Our Porcelain Veneer Procedure

For the porcelain veneer procedure, you can expect to have three dental appointments. The first appointment will be for your initial consultation, during which you and Dr. Beverly will discuss your needs and wants. Your teeth will also be thoroughly examined to ensure the porcelain veneers fit well. Pictures and X-rays may be taken to determine whether you are a good candidate for porcelain veneers.

The second appointment will be for preparation. Dr. Beverly will remove some of your enamel to make way for the veneer. Your dental impressions will be sent to a lab, which takes about two weeks. If your teeth are unsightly, your dentist may recommend temporary veneers.

Your veneers will be permanently bonded or cemented to your teeth during your final appointment. Before they are cemented, Dr. Beverly will place temporary veneers to check for color and fit. The veneers may also need to be trimmed and adjusted before a cement shade is chosen to bond your new porcelain veneers.

After choosing a color, Dr. Beverly will prepare each tooth for the veneer by cleaning, polishing, and etching. This roughs up your tooth or teeth, allowing for a strong and permanent bond. Once the cement is applied, the veneers will be put into place. If Dr. Beverly is happy with the results, she will use a laser or light to cure or harden the cement.

During the final step, any excess dental cement will be removed before evaluating your bite for comfort and fit. Your dentist may ask you to return for another appointment to check your gums and teeth for veneer placement.
